As a result of cultural co-operation of Baja and Pécs, having been established early in this year, Mozart's Magic Flute is going to be staged on October 12 in Baja. In Baja, in which has outstandingly vibrant cultural life compared to its population, no opera has ever been on the program of the theatre. Máté Szécsi opera singer from Pécs, who has signed as art director of the Baja theatre, would have liked to change this situation and also to write culture history in the town.
The musicians of the opera performance, staged intending to keep the tradition, are the artists of the Pannon Philharmonic; its soloists are Máté Szécsi and a Chinese guest artist, Zhang Yu, who has been living in Hungary for two years, the most talented students of the third Pavarotti memorial master course, and singers of the Hungarian State Opera, the National Theatre of Pécs and the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music.
The Magic Flute, which is going to be showed in Baja on three consecutive days, focuses on traditional values and the harmony of human voice and orchestral music; the classical costume choice an the clean-cut and simple coulisses are set to serve the music.
"There will be the first time of opera performances in Baja; and for that, Mozart's Magic Flute is the most perfect work. It is for each age group; however, it has meaning of a wide range of symbolism and music - that is impressive. It is a magical tale for children and an opera experience to the fullest for adults. The Pannon Philharmonic is proud to participate in this genre implementing endeavour ", said Zsolt Horváth, the director of the Pannon Philharmonic.
