Tamás Breitner

Tamás Breitner (Budapest, 1929 - Pécs, 1991): conductor, music director.
1951-56 At the Franz Liszt Music Academy, he was a conductor student of László Somogyi. 
1960-1970 Conductor of the Budapest Operetta Theatre, and 1970-1991, until his death: Conductor of the National Theatre of Pécs, from 1984 its music director and leader of the Pécs Symphony Orchestra.
His opera premieres in Pécs were always great successes.
He made nine Hungaroton recordings; won the Grand Prize of the French Academy. Had got Franz Liszt Prize (1973), was a Merited Artist (1978).
