The Audience Like Us Too!

People who want to go to a concert of the Pannon Philharmonic, get always help from the two nice young sales reps at the ticket office of the Kodály Centre: Linda Kindl and Attila Szabó take care about the questions regarding the classical music concerts. Who are they? Of course, music lovers, who also have else in common: both of them have a degree and are multilingual.

Linda Kindl graduated from the University of Pécs, where she had studied history and communication; her love for music and her communication diploma got her to the orchestra, as audience organizer. It shows her versatility that does her PhD program in history. "I do not plan to become a professional historian, but I find my doctoral thesis theme and the in-depth research work exciting. The only thing I am even more deeply in love is music; since my teenager years, I have been a classical concert goer. I frequently commute between my home town, Budapest and the capital of Baranya County. So I can see well the place and role of the concert hall of Pécs, from the perspective of music fans of Budapest, too. The people from the capital all confirm the world-renowned guest artists’ thoughts: the Palace of Arts is very beautiful and elegant, but the Kodály Centre is much cosier. I share this opinion. I think we all know that moment when you close your eyes at a concert, and there are only you and the music. To get this feeling of catharsis, you can sooner and stronger at the Kodály Centre than at any other Hungarian concert venue. Simply, this hall facilitates the inclusion of music better."

Attila Szabó ticket office manager is a 35-year-young bachelor, who received his degree from the University of Pécs in cultural management. “Jazz is my favourite, but I usually attend classical concerts, too, if I have a chance. After university, I worked as an organizer of free time of primary school children, but it is the cultural sphere, I wanted to find a job in, so that later I got employed at the European Capital of Culture program as a coordinator for the info-point network, then I became a member of the Pannon Philharmonic’s team. I think that it is not a mechanical work; we try to tailor it to meet the requests, to offer different programs. This we do in many languages, so we try being in good contacts and giving extensive and appropriate service satisfying all the needs. In fact, our competency is to sell seats for the concerts and, where appropriate, for the general rehearsals. Yes, for the general rehearsals, as well. The last example, Zoltan Kocsis let the audience to seat in the hall at also the orchestral rehearsal, and more than hundred of them, even though they had to buy tickets, were curious about this unusual concert variation. What sells out in a shortest time? The film music evenings, and the famous names, such as Vengerov, the Bogányi brothers, or Ken Kobayashi Ichiro. I like working here because the team is good; it’s an elegant job; and not just the employer, but the audience will appreciate our activities, as well.”
