The Flavour of Music - Palace of Art 14/15

In the musical scene of Budapest, the Pannon Philharmonic continues its way that begun eleven years ago. With its sold-out concert series at the Palace of Arts, the orchestra of Pécs is a real spice of the musical life of the capital; each season, it plays something new for the audience. This time, a musical journey “of culinary art” waits for those interested.

"It was obvious that we need to introduce ourselves in Budapest, we must scale ourselves in that space, in that atmosphere  where 10-11 music workshop do their daily job, and offer productions to the music lovers."  /Zsolt Horváth, director/

Between the autumn of 2015 and the spring of 2014, the Pannon Philharmonic will attempt to spice up the musical life of Budapest with five new concerts. The concerts’ program, rich in delicate treats, has been compiled by Tibor Bogányi chief conductor, András Vass permanent conductor, and Zsolt Horváth director, as before. All musical recipes begin: "Take a superb orchestra ...” The concerts’ flavourful music world draws from classical delicacies and contemporary dishes as well.

The programmes of these evenings at the Palace of Arts, in the interpretations of the elite of the international music scene offer exceptional pleasures. In November, the pianist Andrei Gavrilov is evoking a pinch of Russian Paris into the concert hall, via Dukas, Ravel and Prokofiev s works; in February, behind Sergei Slovachevsky’s cello playing and Stravinsky’s Petrushka, also a hint of West is going to hide next to East. In March, Barnabás Kelemen will sprinkle with a pinch of seduction his violin playing in Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G minor; in April, the Kossuth Prize winner Gergely Bogányi is tuning up the piano of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall with a pinch of contemporary melody for László Dubrovay’s Piano Concerto No.3.  Finally, Erika Miklósa’s voice, singing Strauss’s songs, is seasoning a May Friday evening, to make it really special.

"Our presence at the Palace of Arts has been a cornerstone of the orchestra for over 10 years. To be present in the musical scene of the capital city, with a classical music season ticket series is a high rank. The Pannon Philharmonic always comes with an innovative programme to Budapest." / Tibor Bogányi, chief conductor/

The unique flavour of the evenings shall be guaranteed by the interpretation of the conductors: Tibor Bogányi, András Vass, Christian Schumann and Cristian Mandeal.

In the autumn of 2014, the Pannon Philharmonic is starting its twelfth season at the Palace of Arts. The high-quality concert series have run with great success from the beginning, regularly with sold-out concerts. The orchestra is every year more and more present in the musical life of Budapest; with its unique concerts, it has found its place next to the capital’s orchestras’ offers. Besides its own concert series, it is also regularly invited to prestigious national musical events, for example to the Budapest Spring Festival.

"We owe a lot to the Palace of Arts; we have found a home in it. Budapest’s music lovers have accepted us. It is extremely inspiring that for five times a year, Friday nights we could be the artistic ensemble and our productions can be the one that could expect a packed house." /Zsolt Horváth, director/
