He obtained his degrees as a conductor and trombonist from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, transferring to the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Bolshoi in Moscow to study under Yuri Simonov. He made his first appearance as a conductor at the age of 22 in the Hungarian State Opera. Since 1981 he has been a teacher of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Since 1984 he has been Artistic Director and Music Director of the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra (North Hungarian Symphony Orchestra). In 1998 he was appointed conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Hungarian Radio, where he has been Chief Conductor since 2004. He conducts 70-80 concerts annually. He has given concerts in 21 countries of Europe, in Asia, America and the Middle-East as well. Awards: Liszt Prize in 1989, Bartók-Pásztory Prize in 1993, Pro Urbe Miskolc Prize in 1996, eMeRTon Prize of the Hungarian Radio for the best performance of the year in 1998, Miskolc Muse Award in 2004.
