Uroš Lajovic is one of the most successful conducting professors in Europe. After having studied with Prof. Bruno Maderna at Mozarteum in Salzburg he continued at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, Austria with Prof. Hans Swarowsky in whose class Lajovic received a masters degree with honors. He then became the principal conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and of the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra in Croatia. He also conducted the RTV Chamber Orchestra. In 1988, Lajovic established the Chamber Orchestra Slovenicum which was active until 2001. Very soon after, he achieved international acclaim by conducting in major orchestras all over the world. Since then, Uroš Lajovic has been guest conductor, permanent conductor, artistic director and artistic advisor of numerous prominent European musical institutions. Between 2001-06 he was the music director of the Belgrade Philharmonic. Lajovic was named Professor in Ordinary at the University of Music in Vienna, Austria in 1991. He also holds a teaching position at the Zagreb Music Academy since 2009.
The first time Maestro Lajovic conducted was in 1965. Since then, he has appeared along the most prominent soloists as well as orchestras and choirs. Up until today his concert history records over 1300 appearances. In his careere he conducted over 70 different orchestras in Europe, Russia, Turkey, USA, Korea, China, Taiwan and Colombia. He has received international recognition for his work and has been awarded several times.
