About the Programme

The one of today's most sought-for soprano was born of Greek and German parents, in a city near Cologne. She sang the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro at eighteen; her breakthrough was the victory at the Singer of the World competition in Cardiff in 1999. Following that, Anja Harteros received invitations from the opera houses of Frankfurt, Lyon, Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg, Vienna, New York, Munich and Berlin, as from the Salzburg Festival, without a break. At the latter, she played in Verdi's Don Carlos, as Jonas Kaufmann’s partner; and in 2014, she sang Schubert and Brahms’s songs there. In addition to her career as opera singer, she is also active as a singer of songs: audiences in Germany and Austria, also in Boston, Florence, London, Edinburgh, Vicenza, and Tel Aviv celebrated her as such.
The world-famous singer is one of the few who can sing both Verdi and Wagner superbly. Her frequent roles include Violetta, Elisabetta, Amelia, Desdemona, Alice Ford, and Leonora from Il trovatore and The power of destiny; among her Wagner-roles stand out Elisabeth of the Tannhäuser, Elsa in Lohengrin and Eva in The Mastersinger of Nuremberg. At this joint concert with the Pannon Philharmonic, she evokes the most beautiful moments of this colorful musical world, rich in emotions –with a collaboration of Croatian conductor, who regularly conducts at German musical theatres since 2010. /mupa.hu/
