About the Programme

In the 19th century, the national music movements began flourishing. The aim of the Russian composer group Fives - of which members were also Borodin and Rimsky-Korsakov - was creating their own musical language, apart of the European norms. Thus, composing stage pieces that show the Russian history or folk tales, using typically Russian music and folk songs, got important. The program of this concert offers great view into the unique musical word of that era.
