About the Programme

The figures of Faust and Mephisto from Lenau's point of view with the music of Liszt. A summer evening, Impressionism and Folklore - or a Kodály’s piece composed for his Academy dissertation – which he later revised on Toscanini's proposal. The unfinished viola concerto by Bartók, who fought a solitary death agony in America. Finally, the symphonic poem Tasso by Liszt conveying sorrow and victory. Hungarian composers, international perspective, and most of all: human fates and human feelings within the confines of a concert.
