About the Programme

Richard Strauss was born 150 years ago, in 1864. For many people, he may be an opera composer; the one who wrote the Salome, the Electra, The Rosenkavalier or The Woman without a Shadow. For others, he comes into their mind as the composer of symphonic poems, A Hero’s Life, the Till Eulenspiegel or the Zarathustra. Or the great songs, including the unsurpassable Four Last Songs. Few of us would think about Strauss’s numerous concertos; now, the Pannon Philharmonic is playing a whole concert constituted from them – with such soloists as Barnabás Kelemen, Szabolcs Zempléni, and József Kiss.

The concert is an event of the Budapest Spring Festival.
