About the Programme

Levente Gyöngyösi has revealed little about his work he is composing right now. The sinfonia concertante is a hybrid genre; it carries elements of the symphony and of the concerto. With the solos, percussionists are entrusted; we could certainly hear some exciting rhythms performed by the musicians of the Amadinda. The rhythmic elements play an important role also in Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Although it had been composed as ballet music, soon after its premiere, it was as performed as a concert; and when the composer later revised the orchestration, he kept the concert hall performance in mind. Here, too, you can hear it so with Tibor Bogányi conducting.
