Zoltán Megyesi

Zoltán Megyesi was born in 1975 in Szeged, Hungary. His operatic and concert repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to Donizetti, also includes song cycles by Schubert, Schumann and Britten and works from the 20th and 21st century.  International concert appearances led him in the last few years to places like Philharmonie Köln, Concertgebouw Brugge, Konzerthaus Wien and the Auditorium of the Danish Radio, with conductors including Helmuth Rilling, Ádám Fischer and Iván Fischer.  He was one of the winners of the competition organized in Verona for the roles of Monteverdi’s Orfeo in 2007 and of the International Sacred Music Competition in Rome in 2011. He appears regularly on the stage of the Hungarian State Opera, his roles include Ferrando (Mozart: Così fan tutte),  Don Ramiro (Rossini: La Cenerentola), Almaviva (Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia), Orfeo (Haydn: Orfeo ed Euridice) and Aceste (Mozart: Ascanio in Alba). He sang the role of Adam in the first performance of the opera Undankbare Biester at the Münchner Opernfestpiele in 2011. In the same year he also sang Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in a performance directed and conducted by Iván Fischer at in New York the Mostly Mozart Festival organized by the Lincoln Center for Perfoming Arts.
