All those who buy tickets to the first symphonic album presentation concert of the world competition winning, Pécs-born artist, István Várdai, would attend to a live CD recording of one of Europe's biggest music publisher. It will be interesting at the evening that Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations are going to be played twice, in two different versions. Although his teaching obligations the Moscow Conservatory took much from composition time, his excellent teacher colleagues and the environment inspired Tchaikovsky to write new works. He was in particularly good friendship with a cello professor, Fitzenhagen. For him, more precisely: together with him, The composer wrote the famous Rococo Variations, not only because Fitzenhagen had advised him about the cello part, but the cellist created his own version by changing the sequence of the variations. The cello literature was enriched with two additional works on his request: Tchaikovsky wrote the Nocturne transcribing a piece of his opus 19 piano series; the Andante Cantabile was transcribed for cello and small orchestra from his String Quartet No. He composed the Pezzo Capriccioso for another cellist friend of his: Brandukov, who was living in Paris.
