About the Programme

Although composers have long been aware of the existence of the cello and the instrument is still one of the great favourites of the audience, there are relatively few composers who composed a concerto for it. Perhaps the same way the people who compiled the show, Dvořák could have been led to focus on this instrument ignored by many to fill this gap of music literature. He certainly did it not only by composing the cello concerto, but through his symphonies and chambers pieces as well, in which cello played the prominent role of soloist again and again.
