Depth and dramatic power, at first hearing, are not necessarily related to the concepts of death and grief; but they characterize Verdi’s Requiem well. Think of the two most famous movements: in the melody of theLacrimosa the dull pain, the silent sadness, and the tearful complaints, and in the Dies Irae the Last Judgment, the creepy image of the passing-away, the drama of suffering are strongly visualized through music. Beside the soloists, Marianna Váradi, Andrea Meláth, István Horvath, and Krisztián Cser, the National Choir will perform the Requiem, under the baton of Gergely Kesselyák.
