About the Programme

If one asks a man on a street what is the secret of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s art, among the answers, there must be the word ’melodicness’ - the melodicness that seems to disappear from the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Many a composer tries to step afainst this trend; for example László Dubrovay, who in his recent works tried to turn back the continous marginalisation of melody, harmony, rhythm, and sound. Another interesting paralel that  the forrunner of the today’s concert was called academy –such an event was the premiere of the Rondo in A major, too– and the composer of the Piano Concerto No.3 is the chairman of the Music Faculty of the Hungarian Art Academy, a different kind of institution with a similar name. Thought, Richard Strauss stayed far from any ’academism’; especially in his symphonic poems, like in the Also Spake Zarathustra, written afrter Nietzsche. For the almost 120 years since its premiere, the piece has not lost any freshness and popularity, coming together with it.
