About the Programme

The lonely Beethoven, who had got more and more deprived from social life not only because of his aloof personality, but also of his increasing deafness, made a good friend in the person of the Archduke Rudolf, whom he taught piano and music composition as well. For him, Beethoven wanted to compose a piano concerto, which does not exceed the capabilities of his young pupil. Therefore, besides to the relatively simple piano solo part, he ordered two more string instruments in soloist roles; and thus was born the Triple Concerto, of which three performers, this time, are going to be Kristóf Baráti, István Várdai and Dénes Várjon. Fairytale creatures, witches, wizards, demons, and princesses come to life in the other pieces of the concert, under the baton of András Vass.
